Christabel Blackburn

Christabel trained as a figurative painter and sculptor at The London Atelier of Representational Art. Since 2008 her work has increasingly focused on the relationship between people and their environment. With photographic stillness, her paintings explore city life; from a street scene or lone figure in a gallery, to a building bathed in sunlight. Continuously evolving, her most recent works are increasingly minimal, often dealing with contemporary screen culture and how easy it has become to instantaneously collect and enhance images, visually manipulating the world around us.

In 2016 Christabel became a mother to Milo. Alongside motherhood she has managed multiple solo shows, The Affordable Art Fair, The Other Art Fair, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year. A selection of Christabel’s latest work can be seen by appointment at her studio, at Alex Eagle Studio on Lexington Street in Soho, Saatchi Online and Artsy. She will be show work at The Affordable Art Fair in March 2019 with Panter and Hall and her next solo show will be with Alex Eagle, 14th-21st May 2019.
